We have already heard Porches.’ “Townie Blunt Guts” and LVL Up’s “Cross The Sea” off of their collaborative 7″, but along with those we’ve now got the release’s other two tracks streaming below.

Porches. released their Exploding in Sound debut Slow Dance In The Cosmos earlier this year. “Strapping Young Weirdos” is the most bummed-out I’ve heard frontman Aaron Maine since 2011’s self-released Scrap And Love Songs Revisited, but his acoustic-backed melodies aren’t too melancholic thanks the remarkable stop-and-start propulsion of his voice. There is something eerily seductive about Maine’s unvarnished timbre that makes lyrics about hearses and heartache unconventionally beautiful.

LVL UP’s “Bad Blood” picks up where the riff-driven “Cross The Sea” left off, with a floor-stomping progression and lyrics that beg for a sing-along. LVL UP’s songs are notoriously short, but they manage to fit a remarkable amount of instrumental variation and joint harmonies into the barely two and a half minute long track. When Miles wrote about “Cross The Sea,” he gave LVL UP a much-deserved Pinkerton comparison, and “Bad Blood” holds up to it.
