Australian post-punkers Total Control specialize in a sort of composed frenzy, a combination of staring-into-infinity motorik and fevered snarl that somehow still makes room for pop hooks. Their new album Typical System is an eye-opening example of the ways that old postpunk sounds can still feel completely fresh when the people making the noises know what they’re doing. It’s the sort of album that sneaks up on you, so do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself now. We’ve posted the early tracks “Expensive Dog,” “Flesh War,” and “Glass,” and now you can stream the entire album at Pitchfork.
Typical System is out 6/24 on Iron Lung.
