Octave Minds was already a strange phenomenon, a team-up of two people you would not expect to find in the same room together. The duo is made up of Boys Noize, the everything-in-the-red EDM auteur, and Chilly Gonzales, the piano virtuoso and frequent Feist collaborator. They’re putting out a self-titled album in a couple of weeks, and we’ve already posted their track “Anthem.” “Tap Dance,” another song on the album, involves an equally random third party: The young Chicago phenom Chance The Rapper, who lets his voice skitter all over the churning drum machines and skittering jazzy pianos. The song also features Chance’s live band the Social Experiment, and it’s a splashy, colorful, weirdly pretty song. Listen to it below.
Octave Minds is out 9/15 on Boysnoize Records.
