Baltimore synthpop iconoclasts Future Islands are one of 2014’s great indie success stories. They’ve been great forever, but they’re now headlining bigger and bigger rooms on the strength of their great new album Singles. DJ Dodger Stadium, the L.A. duo of dance producers Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, have been more of an under-the-radar phenomenon, but their great debut album Friend Of Mine mashes some of the same pleasure-center buttons as Singles. They belong to different genres, but they’re both wistful, pretty, melodic albums. And now DJ Dodger Stadium have remixed Future Islands’ breakout track “Seasons (Waiting On You),” stretching it out to six minutes and weaving their classic-techno sweep into its DNA.
