Next month, Wu-Tang legend Ghostface Killah will release his new album 36 Seasons. It’s a concept LP about a superhero out for revenge, though you probably wouldn’t have figured that out from the drippy and melodic first single “Love Don’t Live Here No More.” Fortunately, Ghost has now followed that up with the tough, gnarled “The Battlefield,” on which he teams up with fellow crusty hardhead New York rap veterans Kool G Rap and AZ, as well as soul singer Tre Williams. “The Battlefield” isn’t going to supplant “Daytona 500″ or “Nutmeg” on anyone’s best-of-Ghostface playlist, but it’s an impressive feat of hoodies-and-Tims snarl-rap regardless.
