It’s been a while since we’ve last heard from Ohio punk quartet Total Babes. Since their debut album, 2011’s Swimming Through Sunlight, the only release loosely associated with the band was member Christopher Brown’s contributions to the side project Chomp with labelmates Joe Boyer and Jayson Gerycz of Cloud Nothings. Today, Total Babes announces their sophomore album, Heydays, and share the lead single “Circling” featuring Cloud Nothings’ Dylan Baldi. The track opens with deep bass guitar power chords and a quick syncopated drum pattern, then a crunchy electric guitar matches the bass line, and rhythmic vocals that sound as if yelped from another room lead to an instrumental bridge featuring trippy synths and Baldi’s squealing saxophone. Heydays is out 5/19 via Wichita Recordings.
