Justin Vernon’s Eaux Claires Festival Reveals Full Lineup Feat. Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, The National, Spoon

The lineup for Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner’s Eaux Claires festival is here, and as you might expect, it’s both charming and formidable. Bon Iver will headline — their first live performance since November 2012 — alongside the National, Sufjan Stevens, and Spoon. Vernon’s fellow folk-rockers the Tallest Man on Earth, Sam Amidon, and Hiss Golden Messenger are among the 40 artists confirmed today, as are cult favorites the Indigo Girls (performing Swamp Ophelia) and Low. The diverse lot of artists ranges from rising country kingpin Sturgill Simpson to experimental aggressors Liturgy and Melt-Banana to soul legend Charles Bradley to DJ duo Boys Noize to rapper Lizzo. Lots of Vernon associates are on the bill too, including the Staves, the Blind Boys Of Alabama, Aero Flynn, Colin Stetson, Doomtree, Haley Bonar, Field Report, S. Carey, Poliça, and Sylvan Esso. A press release also promises an emphasis on artistic collaboration within the lineup as well as “surprising collaborations across artistic mediums, and many other creative and experiential elements,” all of which sounds extremely promising. It’s going down at the Foster Farm outside Eau Claires on 7/17-18. Tickets go on sale here Thursday 2/12 at 1PM EST/12PM CST.

Here’s Vernon’s statement on the lineup:

We at Eaux Claires have been driven by the idea that our festival would encourage music-genre-walls to melt away. That the barriers between the stage and the audience altered, and expression and experience put above all. We have put so much thought into who should collaborate at this festival, from musicians to actors, filmmakers to visual artists. We will all share and revel in this collision of artistic force while performing in the arms of our own Chippewa River Valley.
