Scottish synthpoppers Chvrches love covering other people’s songs. They’re only one album into their career, and we’ve already ranked their 10 best cover songs. And now that list is already out of date! The band is hard at work on a sophomore album, but they still found time to stop by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge recently. During the in-studio session, they tried out a cover of Justin Timblerlake’s majestic 2002 bitter-ex masterpiece “Cry Me A River.” Timbaland’s symphonic beeps are a tall motherfucking order, but Chvrches do a nice job supplying their own keyboard fantasia, and Lauren Mayberry has the sort of voice that just invites sympathy.
