Yeesh – “Different Light” (Stereogum Premiere)

Chicago three-piece Yeesh specialize in needling, fussy, and elaborately constructed bits of math-punk. “Different Light,” the second single from their forthcoming sophomore effort No Problem, builds over six minutes with a catchy revolving door rhythm via some calculated, dynamic guitar work. “But in a different light, I see it was my fault all along,” vocalist Alex Doyle repeats ad nauseam, chewing over the forced cognizance that comes with looking at things from someone else’s perspective. The track runs around in circles like a thought you can’t get out of your head, before the inevitable comedown which appears in the form of a sweet but dour denouement. Listen below.

No Problem is out 3/17 via Already Dead Tapes. You can preorder it here.
