Young Guv is the alter ego of Fucked Up guitarist Ben Cook, and while he shreds majestically at his day job, his solo work is decidedly lighter and poppier. His latest album, Ripe 4 Luv, is due in March, and we’ve already heard two excellent (and very different) singles: the smoothly funky, Kaputt-esque “Wrong Crowd” and the crisp power-pop track “Crushing Sensation.” New single “Crawling Back To You” falls more toward the latter side of things, with Cook’s instantly infectious, sugar-sweet vocal melodies soaring above the thicket of distorted guitar that propels the track forward. “We can work with that one,” a voice says at the end of the recording, and yeah, it’s definitely working for me.
