Tyondai Braxton, the experimental composer and former Battles member, is getting ready to release HIVE1, his first solo album in six years. Braxton composed every track on the album for an exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum, and listening to its tracks, it’s pretty easy to imagine the sounds pinging off the walls of that beautiful alien interior. We’ve already heard first single “Scout1,” and now Braxton has shared another one. “Gracka” is a bleeping, pulsating syntetic piece that seems to follow its own idiosyncratic rhythm. It sounds like something Autechre might make in a particularly way-out mood. Check it out below.
HIVE1 is out 5/12 on Nonesuch.
