Like Kendrick Lamar, Glasses Malone grew up in and around the gang life of Compton, California. And like Kendrick’s To Pimp A Butterfly, Malone’s new single “Thuggin'” is visited by the ghost of Tupac Shakur. It’s also visited by Kendrick himself, and the end result is an excellent rap song. Both MCs deliver tough, raspy verses atop production that incorporates lightly plinking piano and guitar arpeggios while still hitting hard. It’s actually not hard to imagine Tupac himself rapping on a beat like this. Listen below.
