The Houston veteran Scarface is, from where I’m sitting, one of the greatest rappers of all time, and he’s one of the few who still sounded vital decades after debuting. He’s also the author of a new memoir, Diary Of A Madman, which was published yesterday. This is awesome news, and I can’t wait to read it. But his book promotions led him to a truly strange appearance on last night’s episode of Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show on Comedy Central. First off: It appears that he’s lost a ton of weight, and good for him. But why did he have a backpack on? And braces? Was he going in costume as a fourth grader? And the one time he took the time to really say anything, it was an impenetrable analogy about a hawk and a rabbit, which apparently had something to do with water service shutoffs in Baltimore. It’s just very, very strange TV. Watch it below.
Diary Of A Madman is out now on Dey Street Books.
