Mike Huckabee Sees Ben Carson’s Gospel Eminem Cover And Raises Tony Orlando In The Flesh At Presidential Campaign Announcement

Today, former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee officially announced his bid for presidency. Huckabee will once again seek the Republican nomination in 2016. At Republican rival Ben Carson’s announcement yesterday, the renowned neurosurgeon and hip-hop hater invited a gospel choir onto the stage to perform an a cappella rendition of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Confounding, sure, but Carson made the announcement in his hometown of Detroit, a city that Eminem also happens to call home, so I guess it kinda-sorta makes sense. Huckabee, on the other hand, was selling himself to a different demographic this morning in Hope, Arkansas, and invited Tony Orlando to introduce the event by singing “Tie A Yellow Ribbon.” Clearly, Huckabee isn’t going to instantly win the youth vote with this initial song choice. Watch a clip a below, and Orlando’s full performance followed by Huckabee’s speech on C-Span.
