Panda Bear has shared a video for Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper centerpiece “Come To Your Senses.” Director Sam Fleischner — who also shot the mini-doc Greeting The Reaper — set up a camera on Rua da Rosa, a busy street in Noah Lennox’s current hometown of Lisbon. He shot what happened in a single day — people dissolve in and out of frame as the time passes and, as the sun slowly fades, it gives way to the city’s vibrant nightlife. Lennox shows up at the end, coming out of what’s presumably his apartment and walking straight towards the camera. There’s not much to the video, but it is transfixing in its own way. Watch and read some words from Panda Bear himself about the video below.
Rua da Rosa is the narrow but main street cut through the Bairro Alto neighborhood here in Lisbon. Visitors mainly stock the area during the day but its perhaps the principle target for partying Lisbon teenagers Thursday through Sunday nights. The constant shifts make it a particularly fascinating neighbourhood to me. Its noisy except for Sunday mornings. Id had an idea for a while to shoot the street for a bit to catch the traffic. When my friend Sam was here shooting a short thing we made for the recent album he was game to give the idea a go.
