When DJ Mustard’s clipped, propulsive signature sound took off a couple of years ago, Mustard got famous, and so did a few of his favorite collaborators, like YG and Ty Dolla $ign. Other Mustard favorites like Joe Moses and TeeCee stayed underground. But on “Only Right,” a single from Ty$’s forthcoming album Free TC, all four of those guys come together, going in over a lurching and relatively experimental Mustard track. The weird Middle Eastern wobble in the melody reminds me of peak-era Timbaland, and you have to respect everyone’s ability to sound tough over a track this weird. Listen to “Only Right” below.
