Watch Duff McKagan & Krist Novoselic Play “Sweet Child O’ Mine” Together

Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses famously didn’t like each other, mostly owing to a backstage spat between Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain at the 1992 VMAs. But Duff McKagan and Krist Novoselic were never going to keep that feud going; they’ve got too much in common. They’re both bass players, both relatively mellow and level-headed individuals, and they both have roots in Seattle’s punk scene. In recent years, they’ve both written columns for Seattle Weekly, and they’ve become friends. McKagan just published a new book called How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions), and last night, Novoselic and McKagan talked about the book live onstage at Seattle’s Neptune Theater. And during one deeply ridiculous moment, they teamed up to play an instrumental version of GN’R’s “Sweet Child O’ Mine” together, with McKagan playing bass and Novoselic, really impressively, playing accordion.
