On Friday night, as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival, the indie label Tri Angle threw itself a fifth birthday party in the concrete basement of 23 Wall Street. Most of the DJs who played the show were Tri Angle artists, but they also had a surprise guest: Björk, who spun an hour-long set while dancing euphorically and wearing a glittery gold mask. (Björk’s Vulnicura collaborator the Haxan Cloak, part of the Tri Angle roster, was also on the bill.) Björk has now shared her entire set, which combines singers like Kate Bush and the Portuguese fado queen Amália Rodrigues with chaotic, falling-apart beats. It’s a fascinating, sophisticated set. Below, you can stream the entire thing, watch some truly charming video of Björk dancing in the booth, and read something Björk wrote about the party.
i would like to wish tri angle label an incredibly sublime birthday and thank for having been invited to dj at their party . couldnt possibly been more honoured than to play in that company !!! the mix i played was my present to them : merging together some of my fav beats last year with some of my fav vocalists doing some of their best songs :
!!! this is my tune-tinder !!!
Björk was also spotted at another recent Red Bull Music Academy show, a showcase of African electronic music. She’s getting out there!
