J Mascis and Kim Gordon are old friends. They used to live near each other in Amherst, Massachusetts, and they’ve shared stages a few times. They’re also crucial parts of two enormously important bands from the ’80s Our Band Could Be Your Life era of American underground rock. And now they’ve made a song together. “Slow Boy” is a new single from Converse’s forthcoming CONS EP Vol. 3, and it’s got Gordon’s deadpan shout over Mascis’ mud-spattered classic-rock guitar heroism. It sounds urgent and rough and like exactly what you’d hope these two could cook up together. This is some heavy music, and you can hear it below.
