Chance The Rapper Announces Free Festival For Teens

Chance The Rapper and his group Donnie Trumpet And The Social Experiment just released Surf, one of the year’s best albums, and gave it away for free. And now Chance is continuing to give things away for free, curating and helping to organize a free festival for teenagers in his embattled hometown of Chicago. As FADER reports, Chance is one of the forces behind the Teens In The Park festival, which comes to Chicago’s Northerly Island on 6/24. (That’s two weeks from today!) Donnie Trumpet and bop star DLow are among the performers, and it seems fair to expect surprises, especially after Kanye West and Vic Mensa showed up to Chance’s OpenMike show in Chicago last month. The show will also have activity tents from organizations like the Art Institute and Kanye’s Donda’s House nonprofit. This is just an undeniably cool thing, and Chance deserves some sort of medal for all the things he’s doing for his city.
