Prince – “HARDROCKLOVER”

Prince – “HARDROCKLOVER”

Prince has released another one-off track in the same vein as “WHAT IF” and “Baltimore” from earlier this year. This one’s called “HARDROCKLOVER,” and sees the star throwing down the gauntlet along genre lines: “Ain’t no rapper trying to be a singer/ Come on, make a move,” and right after shouting out Babyface: “R&B ain’t got no place/ But put some hard rock on, you’d better cover your ears/ ‘Cus you’re about to hear a woman just scream.” With that last line, Prince shows off his falsetto, backed up with a hard rock riff that makes an argument for the necessity of the genre. It’s a fun, lightweight Prince track, which are often the best kind. Check it out below.
