Ibeyi are a pair of 20-year-old French-Cuban twin sisters, and their self-titled debut album features a fusion of electronic elements, hip-hop, and traditional Yorùbán music. I had the chance to watch a mesmerizing live performance from the sisters at SXSW, and after watching their chemistry, it’s no real surprise that they needed to extend their international tour and provide the world with new music. Ibeyi came out in February, but Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Díaz have now released a brand new song called “Exhibit Diaz.” This song especially exhibits their incorporation of hip-hop into more traditional and electronic formats; it’s a reinterpretation of the Jay Electronica song “Better In Tune With The Infinite.” Listen below.
