Last night the National played two shows at LA’s the Troubadour to benefit Cooperative For Education, a charity for Guatemalan schoolchildren that was founded by Matt Berninger’s cousins. EL VY, Berninger’s side-project with Brent Knopf, will release its debut album later this month, but the National frontman hasn’t stopped writing songs with his main band. Last night they debuted one of those cuts, “Roman Candle,” which Berninger joked they would probably mess up. (They didn’t.) Watch the smoldering performance below.
Here were the setlists, which included that Grateful Dead cover they did at Eaux Claires over the summer.
After months of anticipation I was lucky enough to catch not one but two sets from @ntnl in one night! All for a great cause. These guys are simply amazing and this show was a testament to the fact that they are amazing!! #weho #concert #cantwait #setlist #losangeles #friday #national #thenational #troubadour
