Last month, superstar DJ A-Trak recruited the retro-soul belter and experimental electro producer Jamie Lidell to help him out on a new dance anthem called “We All Fall Down.” Today, NPR premiered Lidell’s own remix of the very same track, which changes it from a silky house banger banger into a lush, propulsive, string-drenched soul track. In Lidell’s hand, this feels like a 2015 version of those early-’70s soul songs from the era when disco was starting to become its own genre. It’s one thing trying to become another thing, and that’s a cool sound. Check out Lidell’s version of the song below.
A-Trak’s new EP of “We All Fall Down” remixes is out 10/30 on Fool’s Gold.
