“Mudafossil” is the first release from Ash Koosha’s sophomore album, I AKA I. The track’s dark melody and thumping, skittering instrumentation combine into the low-end heavy dance beat of your weirdest dreams. It’s the type of song that would most appropriately narrate being stranded in a desert in space, Koosha accompanying each wobbling sub-bass with popping drum beats and whistling alien synth lines. And while this track is nothing if not danceable, one of its most memorable moments is when the bass cuts out, breaking up the weight of the song, to leave futuristic keyboards and Eastern-sounding samples to hang bare in the forefront.
