Preview Holy Ghost!’s New Single “Crime Cutz,” Out This Friday

Brooklyn disco purveyors Holy Ghost! still haven’t dropped any original music since 2013’s super groovy Dynamics, but they killed their remix project Work for Hire last year. The duo displayed a knack for infusing their classic disco sounds with pretty much any genre imaginable without detracting from the original or their aesthetic. And today, their brand of rejuvenated retro stands on its own in their teaser for their new single “Crime Cutz.” When The Boston Globe sat down with the duo last month to discuss five new cuts on their upcoming EP, and Alex Frankel had this to say about the name:

When we started, the first thing we did was sample a drum break from someone named Crime Cutz. We ended up not using it, but that name stuck.

New disco is somewhat of an oxymoron, and usually a cause for concern, but coming from Holy Ghost! it will most likely be something to look forward to. Watch the teaser below:

“Crime Cutz” is out 2/5 on DFA. Pre-order it here.
