Eric Bachmann is best known for being the frontman of both Archers Of Loaf and Crooked Fingers, but he sometimes records under his own name, too, and now he’s releasing an album that also bears his own name. Eric Bachmann was recorded by Bachmann working with Liz Durrett and Jeremy Wheatley, who were also part of the most recent Crooked Fingers lineup. Here, the three musicians — along with a number of other instrumentalists — deliver wistful folk structures whose balance of piano, guitar, and effectively spare percussion create a perfect backdrop for Bachmann’s voice to present his stirring narratives, instilled with both dreaminess and grandiosity. Says Bachmann about the new LP: “My wandering lifestyle has presented only one nugget of clarity in my life: that places do not offer a sense of home for me. People do.” Stream the album in full below.
