The long list for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize has been revealed: Drake, Grimes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Destroyer, Kaytranada, White Lung, Dilly Dally, PUP, Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza, Operators, and Nap Eyes all made the cut. In total, the 40-name list contains 19 returning and 21 new nominees, which were chosen by a jury of Canadian music journalists and broadcasters.

This list will be narrowed down to a 10-album shortlist on 7/14, and the Polaris Gala will be held on 9/19, where the winner will be announced. Last year’s winner was Buffy Sainte-Marie.
