Towkio and Joey Purp are two of the promising young rappers coming out of Chicago right now. They’re both parts of the Savemoney crew, and they both come from the same after-school freestyle-ciper scene that produced Chance The Rapper. Towkio released the impressive .Wav Theory mixtape last year, and Joey Purp released the even more impressive iiiDrops mixtape last month. They’ve now teamed up on “Playin Fair,” a new track from a forthcoming Towkio EP, and both of them snap on it. The track has a chorus that recalls mid-’00s Atlanta crunk, a beat that recalls late-’00s blog-house, and fluid, enthusiastic verses from both rappers. Listen to it below.
