This will go down as a great morning in the history of summer-blockbuster soundtrack-album clusterfucks. Earlier this morning, we heard Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott do terrible things to the Ghostbusters theme song. And now, we also get our first taste of the truly baffling Suicide Squad soundtrack. The new song “Sucker For Pain” somehow makes room for contributions from Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Ty Dolla $ign, and radio-rock grunts Imagine Dragons and X Ambassadors. That is too many people! The song is a fairly generic combination of glossy emo and glossy rap, rather than the glorious 20-car pileup it could’ve been, but its mere existence is still enough to leave your head throbbing. It’s rare to hear a song with a title that describes anyone who presses play on it. But if you, like me, are a sucker for pain, you can hear the song below, via Nah Right.
The Suicide Squad soundtrack is out 8/5, the same day the movie comes out.
