If you know Mike Collins at all, it’s for drug-referencing underground projects like Salvia Plath and Run DMT. Now Collins is launching another project with a name referencing illicit substances, and he looks primed to reach a far wider audience than ever before. The End Of Comedy, Collins’ debut album as Drugdealer, was produced by Ariel Pink, and it features guest appearances from Pink, Weyes Blood, Sheer Agony, Mild High Club, and members of Mac DeMarco’s band. The Weyes Blood collab is “Suddenly,” a soulful and luxuriant baroque pop throwback that cruises between downcast interludes and an easygoing sax-laden groove. It arrives today with a music video every bit as pretty as the song. It’ll make you fall in love with Drugdealer right away, so watch now.
The End Of Comedy is out 9/9 on Weird World. Download “Suddenly” here and pre-order the album in digital or physical formats.
