Mykki Blanco – “Loner” (Feat. Jean Deaux)

Queer rapper Mykki Blanco is set to drop his self-titled full-length in a little less than two weeks. It’s a good thing he decided to keep making music instead of pursuing investigative journalism, because the album is shaping up to be a good one. We’ve already heard “High School Never Ends” and “The Plug Won’t,” and both of those were bangers in their own right.

Today, Blanco shares “Loner,” a stirring contrast of vulnerability over a hard, trap-leaning beat laced with zooming synths. He shares his feelings of loneliness and self-deprecation through raw, melodic sing-song cadences with a haunting aesthetic that captures that very human feeling that no one else in this world gets you. Here’s what Blanco had to reveal about the track:

“Loner” is a song about misunderstanding – and more than misunderstanding it’s a song about a universal feeling of not feeling worthy enough, not feeling good enough. We as a human race go through so much and yet rarely are able to share our pain, our compromises. People only know a party persona when it comes to Mykki Blanco, with this album and with this song I want them to know who I am on the inside.
