Watch Mary J. Blige Sing About Police Brutality To Hillary Clinton In Apple Music Show Preview

Apple Music gets a lot of enviable exclusives, but every once in a while, it also puts forward something where you have to wonder what everyone involved was thinking. Case in point: On The 411, an Apple Music special that’ll be up later this week, Mary J. Blige, the queen of hip-hop soul, sat down for an interview with Hillary Clinton. That should be a big get! But maybe not.

Last night, fresh off of Clinton’s decisive victory over Donald Trump in the first presidential debate — and I mean she really whomped his ass — Apple has shared a preview of the interview. And it looks bad. Specifically, the first preview revolves around Blige singing Bruce Springsteen’s “American Skin (41 Shots)” to Clinton and, at one point, holding her hand. Now: Mary J. Blige is a goddess among humans, and I am slightly jealous that Hillary Clinton got to hear her sing while sitting two feet away. But this does not look like a remotely serious moment in an election that desperately needs more serious moments. Apple also shared another video in which Blige asks Clinton some more conventional questions, though we don’t get to hear her say a single word in either preview. Check them both out below.

The full special will be up 9/30, if you really need to watch more of that.
