Ever since he released his truly great album A Sailor’s Guide To Earth a few months ago, Sturgill Simpson has performed on just about every late-night talk show. Last night, he added another one to the list, singing the album’s absolute killer of an opening track on Late Night With Seth Meyers. The song, which Simpson wrote for his young son, is one of his best, and he performed it with huge string and horn sections behind him, as well as his crack touring band. And since Seth Meyers happened to be filming in Washington, DC’s ornate Warner Theatre, Simpson got to sing the song in a stunning room, as well. Watch the performance below; it’s a good one.
A Sailor’s Guide To Earth is out now on Atlantic.
