Watch Mark Kozelek, Christopher Owens, Tim Cohen, & More Cover Leonard Cohen At San Francisco Tribute

The music world is still reeling from the loss of Leonard Cohen. And last night in San Francisco, many of the city’s leading rockers gathered to pay tribute at (((folkYEAH!)))’s Cohen tribute show at the Chapel. The show included Sun Kil Moon mastermind Mark Kozelek doing a dour take on “Famous Blue Raincoat” with pianist Marc Cappelle, former Girls leader Christopher Owens doing a vulnerable version of the Death Of A Ladies’ Man nugget “Paper Thin Hotel,” the Fresh And Onlys leader Tim Cohen and Mother Hips’ Tim Bluhm covering “Suzanne” like it was an incantation, and Sonny And The Sunsets’ Sonny Smith playing “The Future” as a sort of jazz-rock mantra. Paul Chalker of the Chapel sent along some videos of those performances, as well as performances from Chuck Prophet, Tim Bluhm solo, and Sean Hayes with the Cohen tribute choir Conspiracy Of Beards. Watch those videos below.

The show served as a benefit for the San Francisco Community Music Center, and Cohen’s friend and biographer Sylvie Simmons helped set it up.
