Last year, Turntable Kitchen successfully Kickstarted enough money for a monthly vinyl subscription series called Sounds Delicious, which would feature artists covering some of their favorite albums in full. They’re still working on a release rollout, but so far they’ve announced Yumi Zouma covering Oasis’ (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart covering Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever (with Kristin Kontrol and members of Titus Andronicus), Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado covering Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run, Ava Luna covering Serge Gainsbourg’s Histoire de Melody Nelson, and more, and they’ve got a new one to add to the roster: Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard will be covering Teenage Fanclub’s 1991 album Bandwagonesque in full for the series.
“Bandwagonesque is my favorite record by my favorite band of all time,” Gibbard said in a statement. “It came along at a pivotal time in my musical life and I’ve loved it for over 25 years. It’s been such a blast taking these songs apart to see how they work and then putting them back together again.”
Gibbard previously covered Teenage Fanclub’s A Catholic Education track “Everything Flows” for KCRW.
