The quickly-blowing-up young singer and songwriter Maggie Rogers is a couple of weeks away from releasing her debut EP Now That The Light Is Fading, and she’s just shared her new video for the shimmering single “On + Off.” As with her previous videos for “Alaska” and “Dog Years,” she teamed up on this one with the director Zia Anger. And just like those videos, this one is pretty great. It’s a fairly simple video, on the face of it — just Rogers and some dancer friends against plain backdrops together. But the video quickly pulls back to take in some of the video set, breaking the fourth wall without really acknowledging that that’s what it’s doing. And Rogers and her friends keep using bits of the set in their dance routine. It’s a fascinating video held together by Rogers’ performance, and you can watch it below.
The Now That The Light Is Fading EP is out 2/17 on Capitol.
