Liam Betson, who sometimes goes by Liam The Younger and other times his given name, is releasing a new album, Up To Something, this fall, the follow-up to last year’s Music For A While and the latest in a string of reliably great releases.

His last album tended toward longer meditations, but this new track is biting and concise, a scuffed-up rock song about something that refuses to dislodge itself from your brain. “Charcoal grey/ Stuck in your mind today,” Betson sings. “In the way that your mind seems to stray/ Charcoal grey.” The song comes attached to a video where Betson shows off an impressive book collection.
