At the end of the month, Sunn O))) are releasing a new album called Pyroclasts, which was made at the same time as Life Metal from earlier this year. Each day of recording at the Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, either in the morning or in the evening, that day’s performers would set a stopwatch for 12-minutes and play through an improvised modal drone.

Producer Steve Albini recorded these with intentions to release them with a little distance from Life Metal, and at the end of October, Pyroclasts will be available to hear in full. Today, the group are sharing one of its four pieces, “Frost,” which you can listen to below, alongside a trailer for the album.
