You, the people, have done your civic duty. The votes are in, and we can now announce the results of our annual Song Of The Summer poll.

As explained last week, each voter got to select just one song to embody the spirit of Summer 2024. This year, despite the usual variety of submissions, the results were rather lopsided in favor of a small cohort of performers who have undeniably put their stamp on the season. We stuck to our usual policy of including only one song per artist, but it bears mentioning that multiple Chappell Roan songs and quite a few songs from Charli XCX’s Brat would have cracked the top 10 if we’d allowed for that. Brat is obviously the album of the summer, but this exercise is about narrowing down the pool to one iconic track, so it’s perhaps for the best that the award does not go to a song that is functioning as a stand-in for a complete body of work. Brat contains multitudes, after all. No one tune can contain its essence.

The winner, I think you’ll agree, is excellent, pervasive, and deserving — a song we’ll be associating with Summer 2024 for a long, long time. Check out the top 10 vote-getters below.
