Oneohtrix Point Never – “Sleep Dealer”

Daniel Lopatin, who you know most recently from Ford & Lopatin and before that when they were called Games and for quite awhile before that as the synth manipulating sound-shifter Oneohtrix Point Never, is set to release a full-length under that last moniker this fall. Called Replica, the record samples “lo-fi audio procured from television advertisement compilations.” The track “Sleep Dealer” is here as an MP3 and gives you a sense of what lo-fi TV ad audio sounds like rearranged into a new musical piece: hypnotically looped mini-samples, hazy ’80s found-sounds intercut with sustained synths and a general state of outre weirdness. You will not drop this as a banger at your next DJ night, but you may trance out into some Fischer-Price flashbacks. Try it:
