Young Thug - 1017 Thug 2

Together with Bloody Jay, the Atlanta rap eccentric Young Thug already released Black Portland, 2014′s best mixtape. And now he’s returned with 1017 Thug 2, the sequel to last year’s 1017 Thug mixtape, which put him on the national map. Thug doesn’t actually seem to be participating in the release of his new tape. Instead, it appears to be a collection of vault music that he left with his old label, 1017 Brick Squad. But the tape still stands as a deeply strange and fascinating piece of work, and it’s actually better-mastered than the original 1017 Thug. We’ve already posted the opening track “1017 Lifestyle,” and now you can hear the whole tape below.

The tape is for sale right now at iTunes.

  1. I’m on my third listen through of this tape and even though it’s “vault clearing” it really doesn’t feel that way at all, everything blurs together incredibly well.

  2. Can we talk about how the album cover is a picture of Wiz Khalifa with Thugger’s head photoshopped (very poorly) over Wiz’s?

  3. The cover is his way of telling Wiz he wanna give him head. Lol.
