Avi Buffalo

Next month, Avi Buffalo, the Long Beach, California band led by Avi Zahner-Isenberg, returns after a long silence with At Best Cuckold, their sophomore album. We’ve posted “So What,” the album’s first single and opening track, as well as its video. And now we’ve got “Memories Of You,” the song that immediately follows “So What” on the album. It’s a queasy, cluttered, psychedelic track that spirals off into a dizzy solo and makes heavy use of Zahner-Isenberg’s upper range. There’s a bit of Mac DeMarco’s dazed chaos on the song, and a few countrified Beach Boys harmonies, too. Below, listen to it and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates.

  1. Aw, the strapping young lads and lassies are sounding real mature this time out.

  2. Stereogum for the love of fuck, run a script on your page where I can post a comment without reloading the page and thus restarting the playback of the song I’m listening to.

    • It’s likely not possible w/ WordPress commenting — we’d have to switch to a new platform and everybody would have to get new user profiles. But that’s not out of the question. Until then, I feel your pain, Ryan.

  3. Oh yeah…he’s back and old enough to curse now!

  4. I hear a bit of the Jicks, Elliott Smith, and Mac Demarco in this track.

  5. lol gotta love it
