Deadmau5 Pwns Disney Lawyers With His Own Claim Of Copyright Infringement

On Tuesday, news broke that Disney filed a claim against Deadmau5 to stop him from receiving a trademark in the United States for his signature mouse ears because of their similarity to Mickey Mouse’s ears. At the time, the EDM artist told TMZ that “he won’t be bullied, and is prepared to fight to protect his rights to his property.” Now, he’s taken legal action to give the corporation a taste of its own medicine. On Twitter today, Deadmau5 posted a cease and desist letter sent to Disney that claims that the company never got his permission to use his song “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” in a promotional video for a Mickey Mouse “Re-Micks” cartoon short that is currently on its website. “Have a magical fucking day,” he tweeted. “lets test a theory, it takes em 10 years to oppose a trademark, lets see how long it takes em to take down a video.” Watch the offending video and look at Deadmau5’s tweets below.
