New Willoughby Video – “Frankenstein”

Willoughby is the project of Los Angeles's Gus Seyffert, a live member of the Bird and the Bee, Sia, Inara George, etc., and a regular collaborator with a number of producers and musicians (for instance, he wrote with L.A. folkie Priscilla Ahn for her Blue Note debut). That said, he recorded and produced his debut album I Know What You're Up To largely on his own. Sonically, he said he "wanted to capture the organic, analog sound of all the great records I love -- by people like Harry Nilsson, Sparklehorse, the Zombies and Chet Baker." You can sorta get a bit of Baker's soft vocal tones and some of that Nilsson strumming (and facial hair) in "Frankenstein."We were told the song is "a love letter from Frankenstein to Frankenstein's monster." Mom being the above pictured Dr. Frankenstein, aka Seyffert.

Seyffert self-released I Know What You're Up To. You can find out how to grab it via his MySpace and his other site.
