Wham!'s "Last Christmas" is one of the all-time great cheesed-out holiday songs, but it's got a simple, heart-heavy longing at its core, and so maybe it's not such a shock that the xx would consider it worthy cover material. At a recent session in BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, the xx recorded a characteristically stripped-back, murmuring version of the song, and even though it's live-in-studio, it sounds like Jamie xx might've spent weeks working on the mix.
