The announcement of Man Man's new album, On Oni Pond, has come to us with two very revealing things. First, a quote from frontman Honus Honus, which explains, "This is a strange and beautiful record but it’s also head on and fearless. It's not a record that's going to flirt with you, this is a record that's asking you out. If you get into bed with us there's going to be a relationship." That preoccupation with romance and fearlessness is emphasized even more with the first single "Head On," a song that sounds brave simply because of its sweet melody and the loveliness of Honus's lyrics. The lyric video stitches together a collection of scenes from goofy B-movies and focuses entirely on silly monsters, cheesy deaths, and melodramatic kisses, but nevertheless taps into a real sort of beauty when paired with the words coming up on screen. Check it out below and look for the album at the end of the summer.
