Last night, M.I.A. played her first North American show in a minute, filling up the Montreal venue Metropolis and opening with a new track, one that may appear on her forthcoming Matangi. At least, I think it was a new track; there's always the possibility that it's an old one remixed so severely that I didn't recognize it. (UPDATE: It's "Only 1 U.") But the song had some of the tourettic rave-rap intensity of her recent single "Bring The Noize," and her stage setup looked cool. Watch a fan-made video below.

Lord willing, Matangi is coming out sometime this year on Interscope, and M.I.A. will be at the Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend.
