Pelican – “The Cliff”

The now-three songs dropped by Pelican in advance of their forthcoming Forever Becoming have showcased different aspects of the band’s impressive arsenal: “Immutable Dusk” is a cinematic voyage; “Deny The Absolute” is a pure charger; and now, “The Cliff” is a meditative slow-builder with some crushing low-end and a few mountainous highs. I really like everything I’ve heard from the album so far, honestly; I think each subsequent track released has been better than the one that preceded it, and I think played straight through in sequence, the double album is gonna serve as the soundtrack to some incredible journeys. Listen to “The Cliff” now and let me know what you think.

Forever Becoming is out via Southern Lord on 10/15.
