Stereogum Best New Band honoree Diarrhea Planet teamed with Grammy and Oscar honoree Melissa Etheridge yesterday to cover Tom Petty's "Refugee" during the Midgetmen's Texas Jumpstart day party. First, Austin punks the Midgetmen brought out Etheridge, billed simply as "a very special guest." Then the whole lot of them joined with Diarrhea Planet to play the heavy cover to a cheering crowd.
